New Delhi, February 13, (Scoop News)- The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) condemned the move by the Gujarat Police to arrest Teesta Setalvad and her husband, Javed Anand, senior journalists and activists. However, their arrest has been stayed upto February 19 by the Supreme Court.
DUJ in a statement said that the Gujarat Police have launched a witch-hunt against Teesta Setalvad, Editor of Communalism Combat. The magazine has been expounding the cause of the victims of the Gujarat pogroms of 2002.
The DUJ General Secretary, S K Pande feels that a continuous targeting of the journalist family has been continuing through a variety of machinations.
It is of the view that the case should be withdrawn. The DUJ has further appealed to all fraternal bodies at the local and national level to protest against the witch-hunt and targeted framing of cases against the two senior journalists.
