The main function was held at Mini Stadium Parade Ground situated in the heart of the city and the second one at Dussehra Ground Gandhi Nagar where effigies of Ravana, Meghnatha and Kumbhkarna were burnt. As the sky darkened, the effigies stuffed with fire-crackers went up in flames amid deafening sounds.

Thousands of people thronged the venue to have a glimpse of the Dussehra celebrations.
At Parade Ground, Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest while Minister for Medical Education R. S. Chib was also present on the occasion.
The Ministers greeted people on the eve of Dussehra, a festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. They hoped and prayed that this festival brings joy and prosperity in the lives of people and removes all the evil forces prevailing around.

Among others, MLA East Jammu, Ashok Khajuria, MLA West Jammu, Chaman Lal, MLC Ajay Sadhotra, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, President Sanathan Dharam, other members of Sanathan Dharam were among a large number of dignitaries who watched the evil going up in smoke this evening.
Earlier, a ‘Jhanki’ was also taken out up to the venue by the organizers. Many devotees were seen dancing and enjoying the festivities.
Meanwhile tight security arrangements were made by the police at the venue for smooth conduct of the show.
