Very rarely we do come across Hindi films that involves cops and robbers stories and once a movie that falls in this catagory comes our way, it becomes the talk of the town.
Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, “Dhoom 2” combines form and content so beautifully that it has been treated with the right balance of glamour and humour. The movie takes you from one breath-taking locale to another, from the deserts of Namibia to the backwaters of Goa, from the crowded streets of Mumbai and the ancient forts of Rajasthan and finally to Brazil, making you go “wow” over again and again.
“Dhoom 2” proved to be a hi-octane thriller and the thrills and stunts depicted in the movie are sure to keep you constantly on the alert. With its stylish look, incredible stunts and tongue-in-cheek humour, the movie engages you in an amazing visual delight that will make you probably forget to blink your eyes for even once. And the high speed chases, free-falls, pyrotechnics, death-defying stunts that are all rolled together in the movie will give you goosebumps in every single reel of the movie.
Just like its prequel ‘Dhoom’, the story of “Dhoom 2” also revolves around cops and robbers, but in a more advanced and fast-paced way. In the opening reels, somewhere in a desolate desert in Africa, an anonymous thief, a mysterious Mr. A (Hrithik Roshan), pulls off a daring robbery on a moving train.
Back in Mumbai, Ali (Uday Chopra) graduated to a cop from the sarcastic mechanic in the prequel “Dhoom”. He works together with his senior Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) to catch criminals and to keep a tight leash on crimes in India.
Then enters the charachter of ACP Shonali Bose (Bipasha Basu), Jai’s college friend, now a police officer who believes in gunning down thieves rather than catching them. She is an expert on the thefts by Mr. A, a mysterious, nameless thief whose real face no one has seen. Together with Shonali, Jai works to catch Mr. A on his next robbery in Mumbai. But the clever thief escapes after stealing a priceless diamond. He even dared by throwing a challenge to the cops by announcing his next target.
During this robbery, Aishwarya Rai was introduced as as a masked thief who identified herself as Sunehri. She makes an impression on Mr.A and soon wins his trust. Mr. A introduces himself as Aryan and takes Sunehri as his partner. As Sunehri and Aryan go to Brazil for their next robbery mission, Jai and Ali keep a close track on them. And so the game begins, a game of cat and mouse with thrilling actions and stunts.
Hrithik Roshan’s performance was marvellous with those unimaginable stunts. The actor is just getting better and better with his daring stunts. He plays his charachter convincingly trying to stay in complete control of his character throughout the movie.
Abhishek Bachchan doesn’t look impressive although he did a an overall fine job as a cop. Bipasha Basu looks hot and she delivers an even performance playing the role of twins. Aishwarya Rai evolves as a completely different person with her new look and skimpy outfits. The gorgeous actress did a great job in delivering her performance.
Uday Chopra, as the only source of humour in this action-packed thriller, makes his character quite entertaining, just like his charachter in the prequel.
The movie’s music was fairly good. The visual effects and the cinematography were simply amazing. The action sequences and the stunts also do complete justice to the genre.
