Srinagar, June 18 (Scoop News) –Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has said that need of the hour is to change education policy in the State and in this regard a Board has already been constituted to review the same.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing an Education conference held at Magam village in district Budgam today. The conference was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that a Board has also been constituted in Education Department which will check and monitor the fee structure of all Private Education Institutions.
Tara Chand said that education being a vital sector continues to receive the attention of the Government and efforts will be made to plug the gaps, if any.
He asked the teaching community to imbibe among students knowledge about various facets of education and also inculcate moral value based education among the students during their daily morning assembly. The Deputy Chief Minister directed all the Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers to convene parents-teachers meet at regular intervals.
Responding to the charter of demands put-forth by the J&K Teachers Forum, the Deputy Chief Minister said that government is keen to solve all genuine demands of the teachers. He said that most of the demands have been fulfilled and rest of the genuine issues will be solved in a phased manner. He said 12,000 promotion orders under different categories have been issued during last 6 months. He said 22,000 vacant posts of lecturers and teachers have been referred to Public Services Commission and Services Selection Board and hoped that the selection process will be completed soon. He said that the government has recently accorded sanction for engagement of ReT teachers in the schools near Actual Line of Control, far-flung and backward areas.
The demands put-forth by the forum included release of six months’ salary of SSA teachers, 6th pay commission arrears in favour of head teachers, release of 10 percent state share to the teachers appointed under new pension scheme and appointing of teachers on contractual basis at elementary and secondary level for academic arrangements.
