Nigeria Football Association (NFA) technical committee chairman, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, has revealed that the spirit is still high in the Super Eagles camp in Malaga, Spain.
He told brilafm on telephone from the Eagles’ camp that the players and officials have been bracing up for the trip to Ghana next week, while expressing hope that they will make the nation proud during the African soccer showpiece.
“The players are all happy and getting set to travel to Ghana. The officials are also working hard and I am sure we are all ready to go. The determination among them is commendable, and I know they all want to get unto the field and play hard to win the cup,” he stated.
The former NFA scribe also refuted allegations about bias and sentiments in Berti Vogts arrival at the final list of 23 players for the finals, but declared that all those listed deserve their place in the squad.
“I can safely say all the players were picked on merit. We all saw how it happened, and I can tell you that none of them gained their place on sentiments.
“They all deserve to be on the list and I believe Vogts has selected the right players that can make us proud in Ghana,” Ogunjobi assured.
The Osun State Football Association chairman concluded with a look at the absence of any home-based player on the list and described it as an unfortunate situation, but insisted that those selected were chosen on merit
