The Election Commission (EC) would be announcing the dates for Assembly elections in Jharkhand at 5.00 pm today, according to reports.
With the approval of Union Cabinet, the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly that was under the President’s Rule for the last nine month was dissolved on Thursday.
The Union Cabinet acted on the recommendation of state Governor K Sankaranarayanan, The governor had said that he felt the state was ready for elections.
Central rule was imposed in the state on January 19 after the then chief minister Shibhu Soren lost a bypoll and had to resign.
