Eccotopia says it hopes to create as many as 20,000 new jobs in South Africa over the next 5 years.
Cape Town, South Africa – The board of directors at South Africa-based sustainable forestation company, >Eccotopia, Ltd., has said that it hopes to create as many as 20,000 new jobs in South Africa over the course of the next 5 years as part of its effort to help the country deal with the increase in instances of contaminated water in a number of areas.
While tensions have risen between farming and mining groups over who is actually responsible for the contamination, the South African government has been presented with issues over how best to deal with the contaminated water.
Eccotopia has reiterated its confidence that it can help mitigate the damage done by contaminated topsoil regardless of its causes while simultaneously helping to make a solid – if modest – contribution to easing South Africa’s unemployment problems.
Julian Moses, Chief Executive Officer at Eccotopia said, “We remain of the opinion that there is little to be gained by continuing to apportion blame for the contamination when a solution is as clear and proven as our Megafolia tree which can thrive on contaminated water rated at a pH of 4. Furthermore, we are able to serve our country and its beautiful natural environment while simultaneously creating thousands of jobs over the medium term.”
Mr. Moses says jobs would be created by the utilization of manual labor for the planting and subsequent felling of trees once they had reached maturity rather than relying on chainsaws or mechanized solutions.
“Of course, the solution requires a medium to long-term view but it’s obvious that there is no overnight solution to the problem of contamination,” said Ariel Haskins, Chief Operating Officer at Eccotopia.
