Education Conference Held at Garamchishma.

CHITRAL: An education conference was held at Governor cottage Garamchishma some 50 KM from here. Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Sangi was chief guest on the occasion while the ceremony was presided over by Abdul Muhammad Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School Garamchishma. Students presented Hamd and Naath Sharif. Addressing to the conference the speakers said that Garamchishma having 3 valleys consisting on 70000 population but there is Degree college on government side. They said that AIOU is blessing for this remote area because most of our students benefiting from this university in Distance education system during their service. There are 418 students of different categories from the valley. But there is no study center of AIOU for these students to facilitate them. They demanded for study center and establishment of a Library to extinguish thirst of knowledge of these students. They also complained that there is no set up for arranging Master level examination and post graduate workshop in the valley. Some female speakers demanded for concession in fee in PTC, CT courses.
Vice Chancellor in his speech stressed upon women education because an educated mother can teach her children easily. He said that AIOU rendering excellence service in imparting education and now number of students increased to 1.3 million. At Chitral level number of examination center was increased from 340 to 611 He said that master level program is already include in our planning which will be launched very soon. He said that if principal of high school provide them two rooms in his school AIOU will appoint his local coordinator who will collect assignments and other material from students and will forward it to regional or main office timely without any delay. He also announced of a Library in the valley and will set it in an old own. He urged on local people if they provide them piece of land for Regional Campus or study center he will approve on the spot. He said that he wish to establish here a technologically oriented office where computer lab, video conference and internet service through satellite and other facilies would be offer to its students. He urged on participants to must educate every one and help them by lighting candle of knowledge shoulder by shoulder with university staff. A large number of men and female students, teaches also participated in the conference.
