Education helps in preserving cultural heritage : Jora

         Jammu,January 22 (Scoop News) –Minister for Tourism & Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora on Sunday highlighted the importance of education in making a Nation strong and progressive besides preserving the cultural heritage for posterity.

 Mr Jora was speaking as a Chief Guest at the annual day function of Students Association of Ladakh Jammu (SAOLJ), which was held at Abhinav Theatre Jammu.

         Prof. Varun Sahni Vice Chancellor, Jammu University was the  guest of honour.

       Appreciating the function the Minister said that such celebrations immensely help in preserving the rich culture heritage of a particular region besides, giving exposure to talent of the students. He said that it is a matter of great pleasure that despite of increasing western influence on our lives the students still respect their culture and traditions. He said that such functions are a perfect platform for showcasing and thus preserving our culture and traditions.

            The association presented a charter of demands and problems before the Minister which includes shortage of teachers and lack of hostel facility in Elizer Joldan Memorial College, enhancement in reservation quota to Ladakhi students in science stream in the University, enhancement of scholarship to Ladakhi students besides improvement in various basic facilities.

        Earlier, Students Association of Ladakh Jammu presented colourful cultural programme for highlighting the rich Ladakhi culture.
