Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that government is actively considering regular helicopter service for Gurez and the matter would be taken up with the central government. He said Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has also agreed to conduct survey of Rajdhani pass next year to construct a tunnel and similar tunnels are also proposed for Sadhna and Zojila passes. This, he said would provide ample opportunities of development to the people living in these areas.
Omar said NHPC has also been asked to construct micro Hydel power projects in these areas which would positively transform the living condition of these people.
He said one snow cutter machine has been for the first time deployed in Gurez so that internal roads between the villages are kept open which otherwise remain cut off due to heavy snowfall.
Appreciating the commitment of MLA Gurez and Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, M.A. Lone, the Chief Minister hoped they will continue their services for upliftment of remote and far flung areas like Gurez.
The Chief Minister directed for outsourcing the catering and housekeeping services of the Gurez House to maintain good standards of cleanliness and catering.
Earlier, welcoming the Chief Minister, MLA, N.A. Gurezi thanked the Chief Minister for evincing keen interest for the development of the Gurez in all respects.
He also thanked the Chef Minister for opening J&K Bank Branch at Badubagh Tulail in Gurez area.
Present on the occasion were Advisor to Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul, MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Reznushah, Deputy Commissioner, Meraj Ahmad Kakroo, Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, M.A Lone and Chief Engineer R&B, Nazri Ahmad besides other officers.
