Eid-e-Ghadeer to be a gazetted holiday

Srinagar, January 30 (Scoop News) –Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon has recommended to the State Government to declare Eid-e-Ghadeer, a Gazetted holiday, in lieu of Nawroz holiday, which would henceforth be treated as a restricted holiday.

This recommendation was sent to the State Government by Divisional Commissioner, after his detailed consultations with senior representatives of J&K Shia Association, Anjuman-e-Sharian Shia (Shariatabad), Anjuman-e-Sharian Shia (Mustafabad) and Itihad-ul-Muslimeen.

The Shia umbrella organizations had been pursuing the issue since a long time. Eid-e-Ghadeer is an important religious day, celebrated every year on 18th of Zill-Hajj and marks the last sermon of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). This year, Eid-e-Ghadeer will fall on 3rd November.
