Jammu, November 26(Scoop News)- A jeep (Tata Sumo) veered off a mountain road in Kishtwar district and crashed into a river gorge on Tuesday killing eight people and three others,police said.
“The driver lost the control near a sharp bend and after that the vehicle rolled down into gorge”, police added. About elven people have been on the jeep when the accident happened about 220 km, east of Jammu, the winter capital.
Hundreds of people are killed in road accidents every year in the Himalayan region which has hundreds of kilometers of poorly maintained roads.
