At least seven people were killed and four injured on Tuesday afternoon in Wadajir district, located south west of the capital Mogadishu. The main bases for 9,000 African Union Force and International airport are in the area and it is known as the safest neighborhood in the capital.
"The bomb went off and killed seven people including three children who were playing with it and four passers-by," Ahmed Nur an eyewitness told Xinhua.
Witnesses said that the bomb had been seen planted there along the main road in the early hours of the morning and some residents have called the police to defuse it, but the bomb went off before officials arrived on the sight. It was not clear who planted the bomb and no one has claimed responsibility.
In the meantime, two unidentified two jet fighters killed three civilians Tuesday in southern part of Somalia where regional forces are battling Al-shabaab rebels.
"Two military jets bombed Yaqle village, which lies between El Wak and Dhamase, three civilians were killed and several others injured," said Moalim Abdulahi Mumin, an elder in El Wak, a town on the Kenya-Somalia border.
"The aircraft fired several bombs, and two of them hit near a shallow well where nomads were drawing water for their livestock…. Most of the casualties are civilians," Mumin told AFP by telephone.
"The explosions were very heavy, I heard about six explosions near Yaqle village, the military jets were flying over the area this morning for several minutes before firing the missiles," he said.
The regional commander of the extremist Shebaab insurgents reported the airstrikes.
"We are hearing the enemy military planes fired missiles at civilians, but I have no details at the moment," he said.
Kenyan officials denied any involvement of the airstrikes.
