Peshawar: Five Pakistani soldiers killed and four wounded in an explosion in North Waziristan tribal area, Thursday morning.
Local authorities said that a convey of the soldiers was on its way to Miranshah, center of Waziristan, to Bannu when a mine struck their vehicle and killed five security men. Two vehicles were damaged in the attack.
In response to this attack by the militants, security forces, according to officials, targeted some hide outs of the insurgents but there was not any report of any casualty.
This explosion was after a long silence of the militants and security forces as the drama was on the stage in Swat. Only two days ago, the militants in Swat left the area and moved to an unknown place. No sooner that they disappeared in Swat, explosions in Waziristan started again. The Swat drama has begun after the operation against Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) in Islamabad was finished.
Elsehwere in Baluchistan province, unknown gunmen attacked a Frontier Constabulary vehicle in which three soldiers killed and seven injured. Baluch Liberation Front has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
