“Ekta Sankalp Rally” show of unity & strength of Jammuites: BJP

Jammu, December 26 (Scoop News) – BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas today said the historic“Ekta Sankalp Rally”on December 24 was the show of unity and strength of Jammuites.

Addressing a Press conference in Jammu Shamsher Singh said that “Ekta Sankalp Rally” held at Parade Ground in Jammu was attended by thousands of people from different parts of Jammu province. Even nationalist people from Kashmir and Ladakh also took part in it.

He said the participation of such a large number of people was a clear message to the Congress-led UPA at the centre and the NC-Congress coalition in the state that the people have realised the need for displaying unity against the policies aimed at promoting the cause of separatists and anti-national elements and giving step motherly tratment to Jammu, Ladakh and majority of nationalist people in Kashmir too.

Manhas said that the party had been continuously taking one programme after the other during the lasat six months at different levels in order to educate the masses about the discrimination with Jammu, utterances of the Chief Minister, rehabilitation of militants, delay in delimitation, no compensation to traders, transporters, shopkeepers etc who suffered losses to the tune of crores of rupees during 2008 land row agitation in Jammu province. The participation of thousands of people proved that our party succeded in reaching the masses and making them aware of the anti-Jammu and anti-people policies of the government 

Manhas, while expressing gratitude to the media in particular, said that every programme of the BJP has been given enough space. It is due to the co-operation of the media that BJP could reach the masses with its programmes and principles. Wider publication about our December 24 rally also played a very important role in attracting more and more people to attend it. He expresed hope that the media will extend the same help in future as well in enabling BJP to reach masses and agitate for nation’s interests in the state 

Criticising some Jammu-based ministers and leaders of misleading the people that BJP national leaders did not mention Jammu in their addresses at Parade rally, Manhas said that these leaders should first get themselves acquinted with the accurate information before making any comments for cheap publicity. He reminded them that the whole focus of the BJP’s national leadership was on Jammu and Kashmir, with special emphasis on Jammu. The present situation was discussed in length during the meeting of National Office Bearers.The addresses of our party stalwarts during the Ekta Sankalp Rally were entirely focussed on Jammu and Kashmir as BJP considers J&K as an integeral part of India and has been working for its full integratioin with the rest of the country..He advised these ministers and leaders to utilize their enery on exerting pressure on the Kashmir-centric government to treat Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir equal, hold delimitation, grant citizenship rights to the refugess, fulfil the demands of agitating physiotherapists, Home Guards and  unemployed youth instead of making misleading statements. 

Manhas also thanked the police and civil administration for extending full co-operation in making the successful in peaceful atmosphere.

Party General Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A.) was also present in Press conference.
