Election boycott call very unfortunate:Vakil

Rafiabad/Srinagar, April 30 (Scoop News)– Former Minister and Member AICC today described election boycott call given by separatists as very unfortunate and an undemocratic step which will once again facilitate corrupt people to occupy centre stage in the state through malpractice.

Vakil said that the election boycott call satisfies the purpose of those persons who had always looted the state day in and day out and emboldens them in their nefarious designs to weaken the state on all fronts, that too at the cost of poor and innocent people. He said that boycott can’t provide a direct or indirect solution to any problem but will impede the development and prosperity of the state.

He insisted upon the separatist to desist from boycott politics and by allowing the people to vote in elections will undoubtedly result in bringing to forefront qualified, honest and dedicated people which is imperative for overall speedy development and in the interest of common masses. He reiterated that dialogue is a best and only way to obtain solution to any vexed problem in a peaceful way. He also mentioned that Separatists would do a favour to themselves by desisting from resorting to undemocratic means and should allow people to strengthen democratic process and elect their representatives as per their wish so that they don’t suffer for want of basic amenities.,” added Vakil.  Vakil was addressing a public meeting at Panzala Rafiabad today.

While addressing gathering  Vakil said that, no one want to see barricades, curfewed or violent Kashmir but it is for separatists to understand that without any concrete program and by reluctance to dialogue with the union government, winning the hearts and minds of people of Kashmir is an intricate task. He said that it is common Kashmiri whom separatists claim they are worried and urged the Separatists to introspect whether shutdowns, stone pelting can fetch food for this common man’s family,” added  Vakil.

He urged separatists to give up nagging attitude as congress party has always welcomed and preferred dialogue over “Bullet for Bullet” policy and would welcome them wholeheartedly, if they return to the table for resolving the Kashmir issue. He said that Centre is keen to re-engage separatists for finding an honorable solution of Kashmir problem and reiterated that Congress led UPA government intends to turn the clock back and reinvigorate the Kashmir of 70’s and 80’s. “An era, when economy of Kashmir was booming with heavy influx of tourists and people would prefer visiting Kashmir over Switzerland,” added Vakil.

Describing decentralization of powers need of the hour Vakil said that Congress is committed to empower Panchayats in the state for which it would fight with tooth and nail for incorporation of provisions of 73rd Amendment of Constitution of India in the state Panchayati Raj Act.

Vakil stressed upon the Chief Minister to act tough and bring in some kind of transparency, accountability and credibility in the system if it intends to survive next assembly elections.
