Election Commission seeks cooperation from mobile phone cos for voter registration.

The election commission (EC) yesterday sought cooperation from the mobile phone companies to help inspire the voters in preparing and distributing voter identity card (with photograph) and national identity card.
" All should extend cooperation in preparing voters’ list as it is a public service work," chief election commissioner Dr ATM Shamsul Huda said while speaking at a meeting with the officials of the mobile phone companies at EC office here.
Election commissioners Mohammad Sahul Hossain and Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, officials of Bangla Link, Aktel, Citycell, Warid, Grameen phone and Teletalk were present at the meeting.
The EC asked the phone companies to help create awareness among the voters through sending messages and advertisement broadcast in the media for being enrolled in the voters’ list.
 
The representatives of the companies responded positively to extend cooperation in this regard
