Here goes. The polls have opened on the other side of the country and here in Southern California it is pouring with rain. This is very unusual, but it’s been raining on and off for almost a week.
I’m going to be spending the day making videos of voters, friends and strangers if they’ll let me. Lines waiting at different polling places. Kids voting with parents.
And then there will be the waiting. I think we’re lucky here, even with the rain, that polls start to close at 3:00 (Indiana and Kentucky) and it will be over (except for Alaska and Hawaii) at 8:00. I think we know where Alaska and Hawaii will go, but the race for Ted Stevens’ Senate seat will still be worth watching, even at that late hour.
If you still haven’t made up your mind, please do it and go out and vote. If you’ve been reading my pieces here on Ground Report, you know where I stand. But I really want you to vote whether or not you agree with me. It is more important than it has ever been to make your voice heard. Be an active part of your country and its government. Hey, if you don’t vote, you can’t complain!
And if you’re an Obama supporter, you’re probably trying to keep it together today. I know I am. Don’t be complacent. Does everyone you know have a ride to their polling place? Do they know how to vote on local and regional issues? Do you know any undecideds?
Here I sit, in the dark, listening to the rain fall. We have an amazing day ahead of us. I’m going to try to stay in the moment so I can remember it all. Change is coming. Change we Need.
Vote!
