KARACHI: Former prime minister and Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Sunday called for end of military role in politics of the country, restoration and supremacy of 1973 constitution, independence of the judiciary and ensuring rule of law.
He was addressing the party workers at Mazar-i-Quaid here, after laying floral wreath on the Mazar and offering fateha for Father-of-the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with a group of senior party leaders who included former governor Sindh, Mamnoon Hussain, Tariq Khan, Saleem Zia, Nehal Hashmi Advocate.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said his party was struggling for restoration of real democracy where 160 million people have full opportunity to decide about their future.
“ We want end of military intervention in politics for ever, January 2008 elections will be awami referendum in this regard,” he said.
He said every Pakistani should play their role for restoration of democracy and its promotion, safety of all basic rights of civil society and for economic strength of the country.
He said, after coming into power PML-N would utilise all available means to create maximum jobs and check the rising inflation in the country.
