Elephants that without Micro-Chips Should not be allowed to Participate in Public Functions after May 31
Training has been given to 69 mahouts by the Forest Department for the purpose under a programme meant for the welfare of elephants and to comply with a government order which says elephants that are not fitted with micro-chips should not be allowed to participate in public functions after May 31. Owners of elephants have been advised to produce the animal for the implant and the health check-up on May 19 and 20.
