ISLAMBAD: Attorney General of Pakistan, Malik Muhammd Qayum, Friday said that state of emergency will be lifted and PCO withdrawn in the country on December 15 while the Constitution will be restored with one or two amendments.
Talking to news men, Malik Qayum said a Presidential Order will be issued for lifting emergency and PCO, the right of which had been given to the President by the Chief of the Army Staff.
The draft legislation for withdrawal of emergency was given a final shape at a meeting held in Aiwan-e-Sadr and attended besides him by Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, Senator Wasim Sajjad and aides of President Pervez Musharraf.
To a question, he said one or two amendments have been made in the Constitution, the right of which is with the President under the PCO.
Replying to another question, he said the induction of judges to the vacant posts in Supreme Court will be made in one week. These judges will be selected from all the four provinces and in this connection Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar is finalizing the names, he added.
