Nagrota, November 18, (Scoop News)- Saying that development has got new impetus under National Conference led government during the past six years, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Tuesday asserted that Jammu and Kashmir is at the threshold of an era full of promise and hope for the people.
“The beginning has been stupendous, notwithstanding the turbulent conditions, and the journey is to be carried forward with renewed vigour”, Mr Rana said while addressing several election rallies in Nagrota.
He said development cannot be undermined by raking up emotive issues as the people crave for sustainable peace, good governance, network of infrastructural development especially in the service sectors like power and drinking water. “This is what National Conference has been pursuing for the past six year and will continue to do so if voted to power”, he said adding that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been striving for treading the state on the path of progress and prosperity.
Mr Rana exhorted the people to become part of journey undertaken by the Chief Minister to take Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh for a better tomorrow where people have access to progress and development. He particularly called upon the youth to strengthen the fort of National Conference which stands guarantee to fulfillment of their urges and aspirations.
The Provincial President elaborately dwelt on the key achievements registered over the years, which include holding of panchayat elections, introduction of revolutionary laws like Right to Information and Public Services Guarantee Acts, measures for generating employability, launching of Himayat and Udaan programmes for unemployed youth, skill development programme and various other initiatives for women and weaker sections of the people.
Referring to Nagrota constituency, Mr Rana said a network of roads has been laid during recent years and special thrust has been laid on upgrading the power and water supply. In the rural development sector, several initiatives have been taken for upgrading facilities. He said the people at grass roots level have been empowered to fix priorities for their areas, which has gone well in undertaking the most needed schemes in each Panchayat Halqa.
Mr Rana reiterated his commitment to transform Nagrota as a model constituency which will have all the modern amenities. “For this I need your helping hand”, he told the people, hoping they will join in the effort of converting this important constituency as Nava Jammu.
Mr Rana appreciated the enthusiasm of the party cadre and urged the functionaries to work for big victory to National Conference, saying this is the only party that can take care of the three regions of the state and their sub-regions.
