Jammu and Srinagar: Bizarre but true. Directorate of Employment Exchanges assures jobs to hundreds of educated youth after completing formalities thereupon, but failed to release a bill amount of Rs 21800 in favour of a youth who was given task to computerize the data of unemployed youth in Employment Exchange, Raj Bagh, Srinagar.
Story begins on 6th April 2010, when employee Umer Mehraj of Nawa Bazar from Continental Printing Lab of Karan Nagar shoot a bill amounting Rs 21800 @ Rs 20 per page computerization and digitization both software as well as hardware. He was replied to appear after couples of days to collect the sum, but the day never come till date, narrated Umer. He said that two years are near to end but not a single penny has been given to him. He said that he after completing the project was planning to seek a degree in computers for further enlightenment about computer works to earn more as he is the lone bread earner of his family, he added.
After wandering from pillar to post Umer called upon head of department and asked for the amount in question. The officers put a detailed note upon a sheet advising his accountant to consider Umer’s claim for payments. Still things remained unmoved and unchanged. He said that then he also appraised the saga of travesty to District Magistrate of Srinagar who in return asked AD to report in detail till then one complete year was gone in-vain.
In total 590 pages of boys @ Rs 20 amounts to tune of 11800 and 500 of girls at same rate amounts Rs 10000 to which aspirants are been charged with adequate fee, said Umer adding that there is no reason to deny the meager sum to a worker like him by the authorities. Unfortunate, Umer is seen now-a-days around civil secretariat to appraise his apathy to minister but the minister is not available to him, as per his statement.
One fails to understand that dispensation of day has tall claims of providing justices and jobs to unemployed educated youth and on the other side fails to pay labour dues to those who work for the efficiency of government. Will Umer get his wages which he claims along with documentary proof, also in custody of The Sree Times, or would he have to continue his fight for few more years is worth to watch?
