He also inaugurated the newly constructed one bed staff quarters for the convenience of the supporting staff of the Institution completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 73 lakh.
Spelling out the programmes and the policy of the J & K Government in the field of Technical Education, Chib said that imparting of vocational and professional trainings to women has been flagged by the government as major activity for their empowerment .
He highlighted that the intake capacity has been enhanced from 3500 to 7000 in Polytechnics under the Skill Development Mission. The Government is in process of establishing 18 new Polytechnics at District level and for this purpose 434 new posts have been created to provide adequate staff for better functioning of these institutions. He said the construction of these Polytechnics has already been started.
Appreciating the work done by the Govt. Polytechnic for Women,
Chib informed that an amount of Rs.1.7. crores would be sanctioned for the upgradation of Textile Block, provision for Canteen facilities, construction of double bed rooms staff quarters, installation of High mast lights and Deep boring hand-pump in the college campus.
Chib said that the sports facilities would also be created in the campus for the students, which will include, courts for Table Tennis, Volley Ball and Basket ball.
