End of a Deadline

In federal capital of Pakistan life seems to be normal but at the end of dead line on Monday evening regarding resignation of Chief Minister NWFP Peshawar and its adjacent area Nowshehra was quite tense, a notable of Nowshehra in his huge residence with lawn and swimming pool on second story of his residence was quite eloquent over a cup of tea in his drawing room, he had informed us about the end of deadline extended to NWFP government from Taliban militants, earlier a source on condition of anonymity had unveiled that operation of security forces in Hangu is still under way and so far 20 militants are killed till Tuesday afternoon.

A Khan of Hangu friend of my bureaucrat cousin had accompanied us while traveling in luxury car from Islamabad towards Peshawer at Monday afternoon, on the way he had unveiled that each Khan of Hangu normally keeps couple of dogs in his residence now due to heavy artillery fire the dogs are filled with fear and normally hide under the bed of their owners while making strange noises quite contrary to their normal barking styles. He had further added that few weeks ago every person in Hangu was in favor of Taliban but now their opinion about militants is changed.

On our way towards tribal area we have witnessed hundreds of damaged and empty mud houses of Afghan refugees at the outskirts of Hayatabad Peshawar, in Karkhano tribal area markets few shops were flooded with US made food and other necessary items, due to security forces operation in Khyber agency and on going clashes between two rival militant groups in Teerah area of Khyber Agency customers in tribal area market were quite small in number.

Interesting revelation was made by a well informed source that four militants after exchange of fire with security forces were finally arrested by security forces, all the four militants were retired JCO’s of Pakistan Army, arrested militants had submitted before security forces officials that during active service of Pak Army they had fought for their country but after retirement they are fighting for their tribe.
