End of military career of General Parvez Musharaf

Today on Wednedsday General Parvez Musharaf has got retirement from his post as Chief of the Army Staff and will take oath as civilian president of Pakistan tomorrow on Thursday, on Tuesday General Parvez Musharaf has paid farewell visits to forces headquarters and had received guard of honor in each headquarter of Army, Air force and Navy, and had also held meetings with heads of the armed forces and discussed professional issues with them.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers of candidates for forth coming national elections in first week of January 2008 will end on Monday, and final lists of qualified candidates will be announced in each district of Pakistan.

For one thousand and seventy seats of National and Provincial Assemblies thirteen thousand candidate have submitted their nomination papers, on 342 seats of National Assembly. On 371 seats of Punjab provincial assembly, Sind assembly 168, On 124 seats of NWFP Provincial Assembly and on 65 seats of Baluchistan Provincial Assembly polling will be held on the same day on 8th of January 2008.
