Srinagar, August 07(Scoop News) –The Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda today visited Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir and stressed on strengthening community policing mechanism by associating with the public at large.
He addressed a series of meetings at district Police Headquarters, and reviewed the security scenario in these districts.
Addressing the meetings, the DGP exhorted that police is protector and guardian of people and they have to ensure people friendly policing while dealing with the situations. He reiterated that we have to ensure that law abiding people are not harassed at any cost though law breakers are to be dealt with firm hand. The DGP asked the officers that people have pinned lot of hopes with the police to get their grievances redressed and it is prime duty of the police to protect the lives and property of the people while dealing with the situation. He urged for frequent police public meets at local level as success lies in public cooperation only. He said that the involvement of respectables of the area would help in creating peaceful atmosphere in affected areas.
