Kolkata, May 25, 2009- Enteric diseases in epidemic form have broken out in the Baranagar area, following incessant rain for the last few days. The areas between Alambazar & Baranagar Market are those the worse affected. There has been acute sortage of drinking water. So,the residents have been forced to drink polluted water from wells & ponds. As a results water bone disease have spread. The poor & the children are affected most.The disease have claimed 15 lives. The Municipal Authorities & the State Government have already taken measures to tackle the situation. Tankers of pure drinking water are being sent to the areas. Medicines are being distributed.Some voluntary organization have also started campaigning on how to prevent the disease. Situation is under control.
