Freedom of speech in Turkey is a myth used by the Turkish authorities to make just an illusion of democracy. Recently, the Dutch journalist Hébras Umar has been arrested for her Twitter post about Erdogan’s son Bilal.
Erdogan does not tolerate criticism and keeps on eliminating his political opponents and journalists who still believe Turkey guards the freedom of speech.
So, German Chancellor Angela Merkel betrayed her country under the pressure of Ankara for the second time given the permission to prosecute the German satirist Jan Böhmermann.
And now Erdogan decided to eliminate his enemies from the Netherlands. Dutch journalist was arrested and taken to the police station in Kusadasi town on the Aegean coast. There is no doubt that she will be prosecuted for insulting Erdogan.
Erdogan imagined himself alpha sultan granted the right to dictate its own rules to the West. The Netherlands could be the second country betrayed its own people if the Dutch leadership does not demand to free the arrested journalist. In the meantime, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte is only “surprised” by the actions of Ankara.
Erdogan finished his political career as a loser and a dictator and Turkey will not become EU member. Ankara has chosen political manipulation and threats instead of cooperation becoming a threat for Europe.
