After an extensive national search, the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, a part of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is delighted to announce that Eric D.
“Eric is a great addition to our team bringing a wide range of experience in leading successful initiatives including: service line development, new facility design and operations and growth initiatives,” said Larry Gold, chief executive officer of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
Hess joins the Children’s Hospital of Michigan from the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, where he served in executive leadership positions for the last 12 years, including Vice President, Operations, since 2009. In that role, Eric Hess has oversaw the start-up operations of their new campus; helping position their hospital system for unprecedented growth, and improved regional market share along with service to patients and families.
Hess has extensive project development experience, including the design and building of an all-digital campus that garnered national recognition for its family-centered care provisions and environmental sustainability. He’s implemented quarterly leadership training programs to improve culture, service excellence and patient safety. Prior to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Eric was a senior manager in healthcare consulting with Deloitte. In that role, he led a cross-functional team credited with several hospitals” financial turnaround successes.

Hess, a Certified Public Accountant, has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He currently resides in Northville with his wife and three children.
