At least 54 people are said to be injured in a car bombing in the northern Spanish city of Burgos. The blast occurred on Wednesday in the early morning hours outside a Civil Guard barracks. Authorities blame the Basque terroritst group ETA. ETA, which usually gives warning prior to their attacks, gave no warning prior to this explosion.
Of the 54 people reported injured 6 are children. 43 of the ususal 90 families residing in the barracks have been affected. All injured have been released from area hospitals.
The car, containing at least 200 kilos of explosives, was parked outside the 14 storey barracks and is thought to have been a stolen vehicle from France. The blast left a 7 meter by 2 meter crater on the street behind the barracks where the car was parked and demolished an outer wall of the building.
