Dr. Moses Haregewoyn, PhD, of Columbus, Ohio, has accomplished what few authors have been able to achieve due to his obviously rich and vast cultural knowledge and understanding. He has passionately studied and written about the challenges and triumphs of a particular group of deeply faithful immigrants to the United States, the Ethiopian immigrant who has preserved its faith in its truest form since Biblical times.
Dr. Haregewoyn gleans from his studies and his own personal experience the trials of these and other faithfully devoted, migrating to a place where it sometimes seems as if they are like strangers in a foreign land. However, Dr. Haregewoyn not only presents the problems faced by these (and similar) groups; he also presents solutions and demonstrates how a community can re-establish itself while preserving its culture. This book is enriching reading for the soul and inspirational reading for our global community–everyone everywhere stands to benefit from acquiring an understanding of the words written on these pages. I am left yearning to read more from this author.
Dr. Haregewoyn’s book, Ethiopians in the Diaspora and Their Spirituality: The Influence of the Orthodox Church on its Faithful, is available now at Amazon.com.
