After the defeat of Nazi Germany and the nearly decimation of Japan in the culmination of World War Two, the victors were then full of hope and optimism that the agony of war would be just added to the history book and become the thing of the past. The end of World War II was then seen as the end of all human sufferings. Millions of lives were lost because of twisted thinking that some world leaders practiced and imposed against the people who they believed are inferior to them.
Many decades have passed but the ghost of World War II keep on coming back. Atrocities around the world are the daily fixture in every print and broadcast media. There’s no stopping the treat of death because hate and enmity – coupled with extremism and fundamentalism – permeates the air in committing ethnic cleansing. Darfur is one; the unabated killings were said to be ethnic cleansing where tribal superiority dictates the tempo of mass murder.
The same is repeated around the world. In Iraq, bloodbath is as common as performing a daily habit of prayer asking for God’s mercy and blessing. Others, who were affected by hegemony syndrome, and psychotic behavior, spread terror and often blast innocent victims to kingdom come. There’s no let-up in perfecting the “art of killing,” as far as racial hegemony is concerned.
The world is watching on the sideline; condemnation is the only help that they could provide. Nothing more could bring reprieved to the carnage because politics and economic interests are muddling the issue of continued loss of lives. So we might just be the witness to all these foolishness unfolding before our very eyes.
