Jammu, December 4 -Eunuchs from India and Pakistan Saturday prayed for peace and prosperity in the region and bent their knees inside the famous Raghunath temple complex hoping that both the countries will come together and peace will return in Kashmir valley soon.
According to a leading News Agency, Kashmir Independent Press (KIP) at least 2200 eunuchs have already arrived here including one from Lahore city of Pakistan to participate in the annual meet for next 10 days. Few were eunuchs were expected to visit India but couldnot get their VISA documents in time.
KIP in a news bulletin said that the event has been organised by the J&K Kinnar birdari to remember Haji Mian Janki and Haji Mian Neelam after a gap of 35 long years.
KIP while quoting Pakistani Kinnar,Mehvish said she is very happy here and thoroughly enjoying the company of Kinnars from different states of India.
She said, "i am feeling at home here and praying along with other eunuchs to forge unity between the two nations".
Mehvish was taken to Raghunath temple along with his companion and two other eunuchs as part of their tradition, dressed in the bridal attire, where eunuchs offered prayers and collected holy water to end the period of mourning.
Along the way the eunuchs joined the colorful Shobha yatra.
KIP in a news bulletin said that for last two days the eunuchs were mourning and remembering those who are no longer alive and today they broke the mourning session and began celebrating. In the coming days eunuchs will brainstorm on variety of issues concerning their routine life and seek guidance from their elders on how to resolve the issues.
