Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama campaigned in Indiana today along with Senator Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) and former senator Sam Nunn (D-Georgia). Both of these men are potential vice presidential running mates for Obama.
The three politicians took the stage at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana to talk about nuclear, biological and cyber threats. Obama hopes that today’s visit will help win him votes in the conservative-leaning Indiana.
Evan Bayh is a native of Indiana and a former governor of the state. He originally endorsed Hillary Clinton in this years’ primary race but has recently he would accept a vice presidential invitation from Obama.
Sam Nunn was a senior senator when he left the senate after 24 years of service. He is an expert on defense and was the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee for eight years. He currently works as the chief executive officer of the Nuclear Threat Initiative.
Barack Obama has not yet announce whether Evan Bayh, Sam Nunn (or anyone in particular) will be in running mate come November.
