The new plans of the CEO of Den Network, which is a Multi-System Operator (MSO), have unveiled after his exit from the company a few months back. Mr. S.N. Sharma has announced his next move. He will now be joining the telecom venture of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, Reliance JioInfocomm.
Sharma’s role in Reliance Jio
After confirming the news of his new move, Sharma said that he will be supervising daily operations of Reliance Jio, from now. He will be a significant member of the top management of Reliance Jio and will report to its CEO, K. Jayaraman.On February 23rd, he officially joined the office. However, it is not clear whether he will be operating from Delhi or not.
Sharma’s contribution to Den Network
Sharma is bestowed upon with the credit of making one of the largest MSO networks, that is, Den Network. He has a wide experience spanning around 30 years. He has spent two decades in the industry of electronic media.
The foundation of Den Network was laid through Sharma’s vision. He aimed for growth through the means of unification and digitization. He gave an impetus to the growth of the company as he excels in the qualities of leadership and execution. Besides, Sharma was the one who directed the company towards the digital era.
MSO for Reliance Jio
This year, in January, the subsidiary of Reliance Jio, Reliance Jio Media had given an application for a pan India cable MSO license. It is expected that the company will receive the same soon. Reliance Jio Media is based in Mumbai and was set up in January, 2013.
The MSO license will help the company to enter into the business of broadcast distribution. Reliance Jio is waiting for the approval of MSO. To prepare itself for the new venture, the company is focusing on quickly building up its team.
MSO license will make the Reliance Jio, a cable operator that will have the authority of getting programming services from a broadcaster. The organization may then give the services directly to varied subscribers or to cable operators. It will also provide cable TV services throughthe medium of optical fiber.
Along with Den Network, Hathway, IN Cable and Siti Cable are recognized as the major MSOs in India. The new entrant will help Reliance Jio to gear up for the competition.
Other licenses of Reliance Jio
Reliance is the first telecom operator that has a pan India Unified License (UL). It acquired this in October, 2013 which enables the company to provide mostly all kinds of telecommunication services.
It is also the only company to get a pan India Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum, in 2010. As the company is planning to roll out its 4G services in the country this year, the BWA will let the company provide its service in any region of India.
Apart from this, Reliance Jio also has a license of Internet Service Provider (ISP).
