EXCLUSIVE: FOLLOW UP ON STORY

STORY REPORTED ON 9/20/08:

The westbound lanes of the Black Horse Pike were closed for several hours Wednesday afternoon after a trash truck overturned and struck a utility pole, police said. Samuel Copland, 32, of Egg Harbor Township, was driving an Atlantic County Utilities Authority trash truck west on the Black Horse Pike in the West Atlantic City section at about
3 p.m., going over the speed limit and passing other vehicles, police said. After passing one vehicle, Copland lost control of the truck, which then turned on its side and struck a utility pole and cement-block wall in front of the New Sea Breeze Motel. The passenger, Isaiah White, of Pleasantville, was ejected from the truck as a result of the collision, police said. Copland and White suffered multiple injuries and were taken to the trauma unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad.
