CHITRAL: To celebrate Worldwide Day for Responsible Tourism, a one day seminar on tourism and water resources was held here in a local hotel organized by the Chitral Association for Mountain Areas Tourism (CAMAT).
Commandant Chitral Scouts Col. Suhial Iqbal was chief guest on the occasion while the ceremony was presided over by Major G.D. Lingland Principal of G.D. Lingland School and College Chitral. The experts presented their theses on different tiles related to water resources and tourism. They defined tourism as the engine which mobilizes all the business markets of a country, resulting in socio-economic uplift of the people in a society at the cost of expenditure by the tourist in pursuance of his interest and desire.
Experts said that there are 3 major component and objectives of tourism and different categories of tourists. The first as the people only go out and enjoy some beautiful scenes and sceneries. secondly they travel outside of their town and analyze the other area while the third group learning by tourism and exposure which are the real group of tourists. But less tourists learning through this way. They said that this day should to be celebrated in any valley out of town area to practically demonstrate the day.
The speakers said that most of the students not aware about the geographic of the country even about their district and that is why that tourism is on very low profile in the country we should to teach it at school level and aware the masses through different ways and means. They said that students reluctantly hesitate from going outside and to arrange picnic programs or any tourism journey because lack of knowledge about tourism and beautiful places in the country.
The speakers said that no country can develop without promoting tourism industry they stressed on stake holders to motivate local people especially students towards tourism on local scale. They said that a peaceful environment and positive behaviors of local people can attract many tourists on a domestic as well as a foreign level. They recommended that to promote tourism industry in the country all Government rest houses and guest houses must should be open for tourists with nominal charges as well as historical houses and prominent buildings also be open for tourists with charging entry fee to promote tourism and to compensate the owners of the building which causing for preserving our cultural heritage. They said that different programs should be broadcasted through FM radio to promote and tourism and to motivate the people.
Commandant Chitral Scouts Col Suhail Iqbal offered all trekkers and expeditors that they would be entertained at Chitral Scouts posts situated on hill stations. They said that we must discourage those hotels and elements who polluting natural resources like water etc and to motivate and convince them to preserve this precious natural resource.
Earlier that Shamsud Din Manager CAMAT welcomed to distinguished guests and explained main objectives of celebrating this day.
Dr. Inayatullah Faizi read his theses on the title of Tourism in Islam. He said Quran has emphasized at so many places on Muslim to must visit the world for learning a lesson from past.
Khateeb Shahi Masjid Khaleequz Zaman also highlighted importance of tourism for development of the country on Islamic point of view. Professor Mumtaz Hussain briefed the stakeholders in his presentation regarding responsible tourism and water pollution. He said that there is acute shortage of potable water and we should to preserve and save it from polluting.
Ibrahim Wali representative of World Wide Fund for nature (WWF) presented his theses on No tourism without water.
Saleem Kamil Subject Specialist read his these on Role of Responsible tourism in provision of potable hygienic water.
Principal Maula Nigah read his these on role of responsible tourism in preservation of water resources.
Muhammad Ali Manager Sarhad Tourism Corporation explained main objectives of tourism to promote and uplift country socio-economic.
Muhayuddin Kroch strongly criticized district administration and district government for spreading of garbage’s and pollution in Chitral especially under Ataleeq Bridge at Chitral goal. G.D.
Lingland also expressed his views on the occasion. The speakers stressed upon to improve tourism industry and to aware masses regarding importance of tourism for uplifting country economy as tourism play vital role in promoting life standard of the masses and boosting country economy.
