The Hague: The United States is offering an honorable form of reconciliation to those Taliban fighters who are willing to renounce armed struggle.
The UN traditional foe Iran is also participating in the International conference on Afghanistan, it stressed the need for the US and Foreign troops to leave Afghanistan.
The conference in the Netherlands a chance for NATO and other US allies to consult on the new strategy and planning that is unveiled by the US President Barrack Obama on Afghanistan.
It is the part of the strategy to separate those moderate Taliban from the extremists who are willing to renounce the violence and come to the table for talks.
Iran, which sent Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad Mehdi Akhunzadeh to the talks, promised to help the efforts of fighting the drug trafficking and reconstruction in Afghanistan.
The presence of the foreign troops on Afghan land has exacerbated the security situation not only in Afghanistan but in the region but an increase in their number will prove ineffective too, Akhunzadeh said.
Iran is fully prepared to participate in the bids to fight the drug trafficking and in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan, he added.
