London, 10th August 2016: Nexus Media Events Ltd, organiser of the European Conference on Optical Communications Exhibition (ECOC), today announced the 2016 Market Focus agenda for Düsseldorf with industry giants such as Facebook, BT and Nokia among the companies topping the programme.
Marking its tenth successful year, the Market Focus – sponsored by Inphi – forms part of the ECOC Exhibition which will this year be held at the CCD Congress Düsseldorf, in Germany, from Monday, September 19 to Wednesday, September 21.
Key topics to be discussed in the Market Focus sessions include: Service Provider Optical Transmission, Photonic Integration and Digital Silicon Photonics, Optical Network Agility and Packet Optical transport and Fibre Access and Data Centres: Optics in Cloud Computing.

With twenty-seven sessions scheduled, the 2016 Market Focus will begin at 11.10am on Day One of the show and will focus on Service Provider Optical Transmission. The session will include presentations from Ovum, II-IV Photonics and OFS. Returning speaker Andrew Schmitt, Founder and Lead Analyst at Cignal AI, will discuss Metro 100G+ Deployment Revenue and Technology Overview.
The afternoon will cover Photonic Integration and Digital Silicon Photonics, starting at 1.30pm with a presentation from LightCounting. Further presentations include Lightwave Logic Inc., Acacia Communications and Intel, who will cover Silicon Photonics and the future of Optical Connectivity in the Data Center.
Day Two of Market Focus will host the Optical Network Agility and Packet Optical Transport sessions, starting at 10.40am. Presentations include Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF), Deutsche Telekom, Nokia and Lumentum. Closing the morning session of Day Two will be Wolfgang Fischer from Cisco, who will discuss Migration of TDM Networks towards unified packet infrastructures.
FTTH Council Europe’s speaker Jan Schindler will then kick off the afternoon session with a discussion on the FTTH Market Panorama based on a study unveiled at the FTTH Conference 2016. Derek Nesset from BT will take to the stage to cover BT’s perspective on Ultrafast Fibre Access, followed by sessions from Telefonica, LightCounting and Ericsson.
The Market Focus finale on the Wednesday will address Data Centres: Optics in Cloud Computing, kicking off with a keynote from Katharine Schmidtke, of Facebook, on achieving new levels of energy efficiency as bandwidths increase to 400G and beyond.
Returning Market Focus sponsor Inphi will also speak at this year’s show with a presentation on More than Moore, Scaling Interconnect to 400G and Beyond at 10.55am. Further presentations include Lumentum, Etherent Alliance and NeoPhotonics, followed by Xilinx and Oplink Communications. The last day will be wrapped up by a presentation from Arlon Martin, of Mellanox, addressing SiP Optical Engines for 400 / 800G Cobo On Board Optics and Next Gen Pluggables.
Visitors wishing to take advantage of the Market Focus sessions will be able to easily organise their schedules through ECOC’s brand new scheduling feature, accessible via the website. The ‘My Schedule’ feature allows attendees to select Market Focus sessions, training courses and FTTx demonstrations, as well as exhibitors they plan to meet. The feature collates all of the information into a personalised handout.
The topics and speakers for this year’s Market Focus have been decided by the ECOC Exhibition Advisory Panel, which includes global representatives from across the optical communications space such as independent industry bodies, analyst groups, system vendors, telecom operators and component manufacturers. Chaired by Per Danielsen, editor of Telekommunikation, the Market Focus committee is made up of other industry experts including, Frank Chang, of Inphi, Glenn Wellbrock, of Verizon and Daryl Inniss, of OFS.
