ISLAMABAD, Mar 17:Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians President Makhdoom Amin Fahim, senior ladies’ wing leader Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Makhdoom Javed Hashmi won hearty appreciation when they were called to sign the Roll in National Assembly on Monday. Members went for long time thumping when these leaders moved towards the enrollment register after taking oath as MNAs at the inaugural session of newly elected Lower House. After the members took oath, the Secretary National Assembly called the names of members in alphabetical order to sign the ‘Roll.’ When Makhdoom Amin Fahim was called and he moved towards dias, the members started thumping desks that continued for quite some time as he waived to his fellows acknowledging their appreciation. Firdous Ashiq Awan, a former Leaguer who had later joined PPPP and defeated sitting Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain, also won acknowledgement and felicitation when she moved towards dias amidst cheerful expression of emotions. Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, who is only member winning election on three seats, was also paid rich tributes for his sacrifices to the cause of democracy. He stood firm with his party despite long detention and was paid back by the people in the form of three seats one each from Rawalpindi, Lahore and Multan. Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Tahmina Daultana, Khush Bakht Shujaat, Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Ghaus Bux Mehr, Ghias Mela, Fehmida Mirza, Hanif Abbasi and Farooq Sattar were also appreciated by their fellows. |
