The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the majority party in the National Assembly, has unanimously decided to name Makhdoom Amin Fahim as its parliamentary leader and next prime minister of the country. He is expected to take oath of his office early next month.
According to sources, a decision to this effect was taken after meetings of the party legislators-elect from the four provinces chaired by PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Zardari House in Islamabad on Saturday and Sunday.
According to sources, initially an eight-member cabinet would be sworn in the same day. They said that eight cabinet members would include Nabeel Gabol, Syed Khurshid Shah, Nawab Yousaf Talpur, Naveed Qamar and Senator Enver Beg from Sindh and Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Makhdoom Shahabuddin from the Punjab.
