Fake DVD/CDs Source of Terrorists Funds

The office of Media Optical Board based in Metro Manila had confirmed the US authorities’ assertion that the continued commercializations of pirated movies, games and software in DVD/CD form have benefited not only the manufacturers and the traders but also the Asian terrorists groups allied with Al Qaeda.

According to the OMD, the incomes generated from the sales of fake DVD/CDs were being used to fund terrorist activities operating in Asia. Based on the US intelligence report, Malaysia, Indonesia and China were named as the production sources of pirated materials and distributed all over Asia including the Philippines.

The OMD was tasked to run after the illegal production and selling of pirated DVD/CD in the country. Although the agency is seriously doing their task and responsibility, the business of pirated DVD/CD remained untouched and openly sold in all places. Brisk sales are what make vendors continue their trades and so with the buying public for it save them extra money than buying an original one.
