Islamabad: The tribal elders from different agencies meet with the Pakistani President, Asif Ali Zardari.
They also gave a draft of recommendations to the president that include the better health facilities, educational institutions, infrastructure like roads, clean drinking water and declaring the tribal areas a tax-free zone.
They apprised the president of the plight of the seven agencies and also urged the need to abolish the black laws of FCR (Frontier Crimes Regulation), the prehistoric laws, the tribal areas inherited from the British Colonialism.
The lawless areas of FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas), that came in the light after the 911, when US hunt for the Al-Qaeda and Taliban insurgents in the war on terror.
The tribal areas of north and south and North Waziristan and especially, the population of these areas have been coping with the US aggression for a couple of years.
The pilotless drones’ flights in the skies of the tribal areas, targeting the houses of the local tribesmen have become a routine job.
There have been countrywide protests against the drone attacks inside the Pakistani territory; however, the new democratic government had assured the masses that things would be different with the new US setup.
But yesterday’s guided missile attacks have undermined all the peace efforts in the region and left a negative impact on the atmosphere of the FATA, the tribesmen were waiting for the Bush to get down and expecting a change with the new US setup.
