Appetizers are always a great pre-dinner treat especially during the festive times like, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years, or Easter when the whole family is gathered around. Here is a simple, easy,festive appetizer Puffed Pastry Sausage Rolls.
Ingredients:1 Package (200 grams) Puffed Pastry uncooked
1 Package Pure Pork Sausage meat (uncased)
2 Tablespoons of Flour
1 Tablespoon of Sage
1 Tablespoon of Savory
1 Tablespoon of Caraway seeds (crushed)
1 Large Egg whipped for an egg wash
Instructions:Roll out the pastry into a rectangle and then cut it in half lengthwise.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Divide the Sausage meat in two
Dust your counter surface with the flour, sage, savory, and crushed caraway seeds and carefully roll the sausage meat in this ensuring that the meat gets evenly coated all around.
Lay the sausage meat down the centre of each half of the puffed pastry.
Spread a little of the egg wash along the edges of the pastry and then fold one side over to the other and press firmly together.
Brush the top side of the pastry with the egg wash and then slice each roll into 1 inch to 2 inch peices and place them on your baking sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees F. for 15 minutes then reduce the heat to 350 and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until outside is a light golden brown.
Remove from oven and serve hot.
Serve with a side of Ketchup, or some Seafood Coctail Sauce.
