On Monday, Pakistani troops have again violated the ceasefire by opening heavy firing on Hamirpur and Balakote border belts in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir and also on the civilian belt of Mankote and Mendhar areas.
Army officials said,” There have been 71 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops have taken place this year from January 1 to August 19 and 15 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in past nine days,
Which according to the army spokesman is nearly 85 per cent more than those during the same period in 2012,
Today, the fact was made public by a defense Spokesman, S N Acharya.
He said that the Pak soldiers fired mortars, RPGs and automatic weapons which were forcefully retaliated by the Indian troops the firing started at 2:05 PM and it continued till 4:30 PM. The firing continued throughout the night, and recurrently till this morning hours.
Pakistani troops also hit civilian belts of Mankote and Mendhar areas
with medium mortar shells and rockets. No report of loss of life or injury to anyone among troops has been received so far.
