A Filipino lawyer has sued Pope Benedict XVI and Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales yesterday (April 29, 2008) in a Manila prosecutor’s office. Atty. Ely Pamatong filed charges of human right violations, forced to cause to believe catholic doctrines, swindling (tithes or offerings solely goes to the Pope based in Vatican) and for noise disturbance (loud speakers mounted in churches) against the two high officials of the Catholic Church.
Atty. Ely Pamatong gained prominence in recent years for his awkward behavior and unusual attitude in which he loves being in the limelight. He was once a Presidential candidate in 2004 election but was subsequently disqualified for being a nuisance candidate. He tried to test his mettle and ran for senator in the last senatorial election but embarrassingly lost.
The lawyer did run out of his antics, he was once called as member of “Spike Boys” where he led his avid followers in strewing spikes in the main roads in Metro Manila to make his political statements. He is also an acknowledge leader of a group espousing the annexation of the Philippines as the new states or territory of the US of A. Sounds good but it’s far from happening indeed.
And now that Atty. Ely Pamatong is in the news again, he might as well sue the vultures and crocs in government, personalities in ZTE scandal, south rail project scandal, fertilizer fund scam, and many more shenanigans in the present Philippine government.
