Finland –Kenya- Uganda Renewable Energy Technologies conference

The joint Finland –Kenya- Uganda Renewable Energy Technologies Initiative ends its 3rd day today at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kakamega.
This is the first short intensive course on innovative projects in renewable energy for sustable development aimed at improving living standards and promoting innovative projects.
Participates universities in this conference are Helsinki University of Applied Science from Finland, Makerere University from Uganda ,Metropolia University, Kisii University and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
The first speaker for today was Francis Gaitho from MMUST who talked about solar thermal involving introduction to thermal energy and types of solar energy collectors. He also talked on flat plate collectors and factors affecting efficiency of flat plate collectors.
The second speaker was Dr. Macky Okure from Makerere who spoke about Biofuels includes conversion of biofuels to electricity, types of engines including their advantages and disadvantages, ending modifications, upgrading biogas for transport engines and its comparison with other fuels engines.
