FIR ordered in boy’s death case
PESHAWR: An Additional District and Sessions Judge in Peshawar the other day ordered the local police to lodge an FIR against nine doctors of Naseerullah Khan Babar Memorial Hospital (NKBMH) and the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar for their alleged negligence that led to the death of a 13-year-old boy in Aug 2016.
The court issued the order on a petition filed by Gul Hamaad Farooqui through his counsel Inayatullah Khan Advocate.
The petitioner said his son, Muhammad Farhan, was suffering from appendicitis and taken to the NKBM Hospital Peshawar twice on 29 July 2016 for treatment but doctors sent him back home.
He was later taken to the LRH on July 30 but doctors sent him back after conducting some X-Rays.
The lawyer told the court that the patient was then rushed to Hayatabad Medical Complex on August 2 where doctors disclosed that his appendix had already ruptured. They, however, did not operate him on time. Later, the boy’s condition worsened and was shifted to the ICU of Khyber Teaching Hospital where he died on 3.
He requested the court to issue directions to the police to proceed against the doctors for their negligence as alleged by the father of the deceased boy. Court directed SHO Khan Raziq Shaheed police station to lodge FIR against Dr. Muhammad Zaheen MS of NKBMH, Dr. Speen Gul of NKBM , Dr. Mukhtan Zaman Medical Director of Lady Reading Hospital, Professor Dr. Kifayat Khan In-charge pediatric surgical unit LRH, Dr. Jihangir, Dr. Asghar Nawaz and Dr. M.
