The Mobile fire rescue department has many job functions and with every job comes many different responsibilities and duties. The responsibility and duty of fire companies are to serve and protect the public and ensure the public has a safe working environment at their place of work.
To ensure the public has a safe working environment where they work the city of Mobile has established fire codes for business, schools, and industries. It is the responsibility and duty of the local fire companies in Mobile to inspect businesses, schools and industries for possible violations of fire codes within the response area of where each fire company is located.
On August 31, 2010 one of Mobiles fire inspectors set up an inspection for a new business located in the festival center. The festival center is located south of Airport Boulevard between Montlimar Drive and Downtowner Boulevard. The address for the festival center is 3725 Airport Boulevard.
The business that was to be inspected is now Virginia Collage. Virginia Collage renovated what were two department stores a Ross store and a bath and body store. Virginia Collage renovated these two department stores into a state of the art learning facility where the public can come and get a state of the art education in many different fields of study.
Virginia Collage invested much while upgrading the facility ensuring its students and faculty has sufficient fire and security protection. The Virginia Collage facility gets a seal of approval from the fire inspector and all the fire companies that done a walk through fire inspection on August 31, 2010.
